About the event

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults at the Swinging Sixties Senior Center. Volunteers will be assisting with the center’s quarterly Saturday Special Opening celebrating Italian Heritage Month! Volunteers will help create a welcoming and engaging environment for this special celebration, either by preparing breakfast and lunch in the kitchen or by staffing the reception area—serving food, assisting with a free raffle for door prizes, or dancing with the older adults to DJ music. Whether you’re cooking or serving a meal, moving and laughing on the dance floor, or simply sharing conversation, your presence helps combat isolation and build community across generations. No special experience is required—just a positive attitude, a willingness to help, and a desire to brighten someone’s day. This is a wonderful opportunity for young people to develop empathy, communication skills, and meaningful relationships while supporting older neighbors in our community.
