1. Acceptance of terms
By accessing our website, creating an account, registering for an event, or participating in our programs, you agree to these Terms & Conditions and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
2. Volunteer participation & waiver
All volunteer activities are governed by our Waiver and Release of Liability. Completing registration constitutes acknowledgment of and agreement to the waiver's terms, including the release of liability and consent to the use of photographs and video taken at our programs. Volunteers under 18 require a parent or guardian's signature.
3. Accounts & eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account or submit our public forms; younger children participate through a parent or guardian. You agree to provide accurate information and to keep access to your sign-in email secure. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.
4. Events & registration
Event listings, times, and locations may change, and we may cancel or reschedule events; we'll notify registered volunteers when that happens. If you can no longer attend an event, please cancel your registration so your spot can go to someone else.
5. Donations
Donations are voluntary and are processed securely by Stripe on behalf of our fiscal sponsor, the Fund for the City of New York. See our Donation & Refund Policy for details on receipts, tax deductibility, and refunds.
6. SMS messaging
Program: The Service Collective Volunteer Alerts.
What you will receive: by providing your mobile number and opting in, you agree to receive recurring automated SMS from The Service Collective about the events you sign up for — registration confirmations and cancellations, reminders, schedule changes, waitlist openings, post-event thank-yous, and occasional important program announcements. Consent is not a condition of participation or of any purchase.
Frequency: message frequency varies based on the events you register for and overall program activity.
Rates: message and data rates may apply.

Opt-out: reply STOP at any time to unsubscribe and stop receiving messages; reply START to opt back in.
7. Intellectual property
The Service Collective's logo and the text, photographs, and other content on this site are the property of The Service Collective and/or the Fund for the City of New York. Use of our branding or content requires prior written permission.
8. Prohibited conduct
You may not use this website for any unlawful purpose, submit false or misleading information, attempt to access other users' accounts or data, or interfere with the site's operation. We reserve the right to remove content and terminate access for violations.
9. Limitation of liability
This website is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent permitted by law, The Service Collective is not liable for technical errors, inaccuracies, interruptions, or third-party content linked from or embedded in the site.
10. Changes to these terms
We may revise these terms from time to time; the "Last updated" date above reflects the latest revision. Continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
